Energy Industry Leader Joins USEC to Direct American Centrifuge Commercialization Program

BETHESDA, Md., Apr 29, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ron F. Green has joined USEC Inc. (NYSE:USU) as a senior vice president to lead the demonstration and deployment of USEC's American Centrifuge, the Company's next generation uranium enrichment technology.

"Ron brings 30 years of leadership in the energy and nuclear industries to USEC, including work at the U.S. Department of Energy on the original U.S. gas centrifuge program. His experience includes a broad mix of project development and senior management responsibilities for project management, finance and cost control. Ron's senior management tenure on both the customer and the vendor sides of projects will help ensure that we meet our milestone and commercialization objectives as planned. Most recently, Green was president of the Engineering & Construction Division and Non-Regulated Businesses for the FPL Group, a leading Florida energy company. Prior to joining FPL, Green had a successful career at Duke Energy where he was chief operating officer of Duke Engineering & Services, an engineering and technical services firm, and president and CEO of Duke Solutions, which provided energy productivity and price risk management services to industrial and institutional customers. At Fluor Daniel, Inc., he was president and CEO of Fluor Daniel Hanford, president of Fluor Daniel Power and president of Duke/Fluor Daniel, where he led the delivery of a full range of engineering, construction and maintenance services to the global power industry.

Early in his career, Ron was manager of Quality Assurance and Interface Control for the U.S. Department of Energy Gas Centrifuge Enrichment Program in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and at Portsmouth, Ohio.

Ron was born in Oak Ridge, where his father worked on the Manhattan Project, later moving to Paducah, Kentucky where his father then worked at the gaseous diffusion plant. Ron earned his B.S. degree in engineering physics and his M.S. degree in engineering administration at the University of Tennessee.
